The only successful way I ever found to do 3-up was to use arrays. Of
course you can read three records then output a row of 3 labels but the
problem then is that the order isn't columnar and users don't like that.

3-up labels are 5 usable lines long but space your output for 6 lines. I
make my array to be 30 elements and each element is a data structure with 6
fields for the addresses. (field 1 or 6 is always empty, but it is clearer
to understand. When 30 elements are filled, and at end-of-job, I execute a
printing subroutine which reads array element 1, 11, and 21. That gives me
the info for the top row of labels. Then I get array element 2,12, and 22
and so on, through all 30 elements.

Usually I fill the fields from the bottom up, starting with line 5.

Chuck,

I believe that's what they are, I haven't actually seen the labels, but I
know that is what the term is. I used to have something like that at a
previous employer too, but never got a copy. :(

I'm specifically looking for something to run directly on the iSeries in RPG

Thanks,
   Ted

Ted,

You say 3UP in the subject and then 3 x 10 in the body. NOT picking just
want to be sure what you are after.

Are you actually looking to print on a label 3" x 10"'s ? We get label stock
that is 3 1/2 x 15/16 (normal address label size that is "3 across" and they
call it 3Up. We print shelf/bin labels on them.

If you actually want bigger, I did that at my previous employer but that
involved downloading data into a PC that had a label program on it and could
generate "the fancy stuff".

Chuck

Does anyone have any code they're willing to share that would print 3 X 10
labels?
