Subject: Defining fields in logical file

Hi!

Sorry, I know that this is a little offtopic. But I only read the RPG-list
und dont wnat to subscribe to another only for one question. :-|

I want to create a logical file with all fields of the basic physical file
plus one additional field. The data in this field should be a substring
(function SST) of one of the fields above.

It seems to me that I have to specify all fields of the physical file in the
DDS of the logical file. I'm not very happy with it. When we extend the
physical record format, the logical file also must be extended.

Is there a way to copy all fields from the physical file to the logical.
Unfortunately keyword FORMAT(file) together with additional fields is not
allowed.
