I normally place reusable subprocedures in a separate module or service program. This one happens just to be called in a total section of the cycle. (Yea, I still use the cycle). I've gotten into the habit of not coding subroutines anymore but coding subprocedures instead. Just for the reason of local variables and things like that. Thanks, Mark Mark D. By the way, there's nothing wrong with subprocedures in your main module. Not only is that good for all the benefits of subprocedures, but it gives you a growth path to decide if the code is reusable enough to be moved out to a service program. If you choose to go that way. I have two subprocedures in my main module. I know, that's not good but they are subprocedures that process level breaks. So I defined a variable, 'idx', in each of two subprocedures and the compile fails. I thought I've done this before. Does this rule only come into play if NOMAIN is specified. Thanks, Mark Mark D.
