FYI - I have a process where I take a given date range, copy all history files
for the given range and then extract messages based on user-defined criteria.
The criteria can be message id, message severity, job name, user profile, type
of message (diagnostic, completion, etc.) or prefix of message id (CPF, TCP,
etc.).

The results can either be displayed in a subfile or spooled to a print file.

I use it on a daily basis to search through the history log and show me only
entries that I define as relevant - this includes backups.

If you think it would be useful, I will try to put it together and send you a
copy. It requires a minimum OS of V4R5.

Thanks,
