Thank you for your reply Joel. I'm sorry for labeling what is difficult
or frustrating for the customers as "just complaints". I did not mean
for it to come out that way. I was mostly thinking of the same few SQL
items that are always discussed (free format, unique names, order of cursor
statements). For example, it seems that this list has to talk about
free format at least once a month. So in my mind, I labeled it as a
complaint since it has been discussed multiple times.
I haven't seen new comments on the topic, just the same things are
being said over and over again.

My apologies if you detected a harsh tone in my first note. I did not
mean for it to sound that way. I just wanted to say that I do
pay attention to this list, I'm doing what I can, and I do care
about the precompiler and the end users.

Sincerely,
Gina

Gina,

First, I want to thank you for taking the time to read this list. I
know it must be disheartening sometimes, and I detect a note of
understandable frustration in your reply.

Why do you consider these "just" complaints about the pre-compiler and
not "real SQL problems"? If it is difficult or frustrating for us, the
end users, to utilize the product then our issues are most certainly
real. We are not complaining just to complain, we are doing what little
we can to influence the direction of our life's blood: RPG.

For those of us using embedded SQL, it is obviously very important to us
what you do. I know that I for one have been very vocal about these
issues surrounding the pre-compiler, so please believe that I appreciate
you are trying to make it a better product, and quite frankly I'm a
little in awe because I doubt I could do the work. In other words, take
the criticisms with a grain of salt: in the end we all want the same
thing: a better RPG language.

Sincerely,

Joel Cochran
