It has been my experience that doing nothing more than CVTRPGSRC and
compiling the resulting RPG IV syntax source will result in a 5-15% run time
improvement.  No source code changes, just convert and compile.  I could not
hope to tell you why this is, but that's been my experience.  My very strong
advice for all performance related discussions is to benchmark it yourself
on your own system with your own database.
