Peter, as far as I remember we had the same problem when we did our first RPG-Free progams. The reason were missing PTFs. You should check for SI0009 and SI07461. If they are not installed this is probably your problem. But I'm not sure if it happened on V5R1 or V5R2. Even though the CODE verifier gives the program a clean bill of health, the compiler chokes on it: 5722WDS V5R2M0 020719 RN IBM ILE RPG PETER/CALCSTOCK2 S44E6234 05/11/03 09:09:51 Page 36 F i n a l S u m m a r y Message Totals: Information (00) . . . . . . . : 490 Warning (10) . . . . . . . : 0 Error (20) . . . . . . . : 0 Severe Error (30+) . . . . . . : 0 --------------------------------- ------- Total . . . . . . . . . . . . . : 490 Source Totals: Records . . . . . . . . . . . . : 886 Specifications . . . . . . . . : 827 Data records . . . . . . . . . : 0 Comments . . . . . . . . . . . : 27 * * * * * E N D O F F I N A L S U M M A R Y * * * * * C o d e G e n e r a t i o n M e s s a g e s Error creating source debugger information. When I change the keys of Stock2 so that the numeric field is in front of the alpha fields, the program compiles just fine. I checked the archives and apparently this is a bug in the compiler. (Note to the IBM'ers on this list: are you aware of this and working on a fix?) According to our system guy, we are up to date on PTF's for 5722WDS, so my question is whether anyone has found a way to circumvent this problem, short of changing the key order on existing production files, or creating additional logicals. Thanks for any help.
