SQL - No dummy file needed -- RPG400-L

Often I'll see people use a dummy file when they want to retrieve some sql 
value or register, like 

C/EXEC SQL
C+ select CURTIME from dummyfile into :MyVar
C/END-EXEC

The following should work instead:
C/EXEC SQL
C+ Values CURTIME into :MyVar
C/END-EXEC
