 Thanks for the swift responses Mike / Steve.

Mike: I tried putting STRDBG into a CL as you suggested (even tho' I 
wasn't using a CL to
submit the job, just doing it from the command line at the moment), and 
waited for the
answer to hit me but nothing's jumping out at me right now. Sorry if I'm 
being a bit thick
(wouldn't be the first time I've been accused) but what was it supposed to 
achieve/highlight?
You were being just a bit too cryptic for me I'm afraid...

Steve: I have already tried the CPYENVVAR(*YES), and setting the CLASSPATH 
within the
submitted job before any Java is implemented  but to no avail. I've not 
experience any
problems using other methods/classes (so far) from the same .jar file 
whether they're being
run in batch or not....
