My guess is that, this may be due to a disk problem (bad sectors).
Kindly let me know what may be the reason/s for the error and how to rectify

This doesn't appear to be RPG related ... if it isn't, could responses be posted to MIDRANGE-L (http://lists.midrange.com/mailman/listinfo/midrange-l) instead of this list?
