If I remember correctly SQL will display a dash for a field it finds to be Null. As for programs, it is up to the programmer to decide what to show when the field is null. Most people will take the easy way out and use numeric :^). Since a numeric field can't be blank, people show '0001-01-01'. I have always thought that showing '0001-01-01' when the field is Null is wrong and mis-leading. I personally use a character field for dates and use a date validator for inputs. When the date field is Null, the field on the screen is blank. -- Scott J > However, when we display the column that does have a null > value, the display shows '0001-01-01'.
