retrieve display file field attribute at run time -- RPG400-L

Thread-topic: retrieve display file field attribute at run time

anybody know if there is a way to retrieve the attribute of a display file 
field at run time?  Will QDFRTVFD api work?
 
for example, I want to know if a display file field is protected after I do a 
write to the record format.  is that possible?
