This isn't a religious issue with me. Any of these methods work. Of course
my method would need an OR %EOF. Buck's comments about having read the next
record need to be paid attention to, too. In a page-at-a-time subfile though
it makes no difference.

One may use what ever one likes. I was just reporting my own experiences and
preferences.

Subject: Re: When is %EOF not an %EOF

Hi Booth,

What would happen with this code

C DOU SavedPartialKey = Partialkey
C READ (e) FileName

when you reach end of file?

And to answer your question, yes, that was the original question.

C DOU %EOF
C PartialKey READE (e) FileName

is clear, but also
C DOU SavedPartialKey = Partialkey
C READ (e) FileName

seems pretty clear, too?

errrr... excepting wasn't the original question relating to %EOF not giving
the results he expected?
