Damn. The -x option doesn't work.
Whether I specify
find    /wwwserv/tmp/java -name *.class
OR
find -x /wwwserv/tmp/java -name *.class
it still lists classes in sub-directories below /wwwserv/tmp/java
??

Actually, find works recursively by default.   The -x you're specifying is
turning off recursion.   So, if you want recursion, just remove the -x.

There is no -R option to the find command.  (at least, not on any OS that
I use regularly)
