There's some interesting terminology that needs to be agreed upon before
embarking on this jaunt down Pedantry Lane. RPG cannot call an SQL stored
procedure; only SQL can. Of course, RPG can invoke SQL which in turn can
call a stored procedure. But the Very Cool nature of OS400 makes stored
procedures a different animal than on other databases. We write an RPG
program, create the program object and then use SQL to register it as a
stored procedure. Because our stored procedures are implemented as *PGM
objects, and because we can call programs from RPG, we can call the
underlying program object! So while we can't really call the SP, we can
call the underlying program which implements the SP. I have not tried to
call the underlying program in a LANGUAGE SQL procedure though.
