To "this old country boy" and the others. Glad I'm not the only one here. <G> Mandatory RPG :) D Name S 20A INZ('Bill Hopkins') C eval Name = %replace('RedNeck':Name:1:20) Just trying to lighten things up. By the way I got a good laugh out of these; maybe others will. www.chemistrycoach.com/fish_fishing_and_education.htm Thanks Bill Hopkins "Booth Martin" <Booth@xxxxxxxxxxxx> Sent by: rpg400-l-bounces@xxxxxxxxxxxx 08/19/2003 02:58 PM Please respond to RPG programming on the AS400 / iSeries To: <rpg400-l@xxxxxxxxxxxx> cc: Subject: Re: STFW Replies I didn't pick up any 'attitude' in any of the replies. I did pick up some new knowledge though. I had already read the ** manual. The manual was correct of course, but not clear enough for this old country boy. To tell the truth, what fascinated me most though was the post about %replace. I am still trying to figure that out. %replace seems like a better choice than %subst. Also, so far as attitude is concerned, the silly simple questions teach me a lot. The answers that come forth always seem to show a new slant I'd never considered, and I am happy for the new learning. --------------------------------------------------------- Booth Martin http://www.MartinVT.com Booth@xxxxxxxxxxxx --------------------------------------------------------- -------Original Message------- From: RPG programming on the AS400 / iSeries Date: Tuesday, August 19, 2003 11:44:41 AM To: RPG programming on the AS400 / iSeries Subject: Re: STFW Replies Joe, I don't think we were displaying an 'attitude'. Perhaps he didn't know the manuals were online. Evidently by all the responses, some people have a problem with the manuals.
