do NOT get me started!!!! :) I love the help function in Code/400. Unfortunately I am not a Java expert and somewhere along something changed something, and Help disappeared. Every once in awhile it shows up again but it is always a surprise. I am told my environment variable is wrong. Ok, so its wrong. I've spent several unbillable man days trying to figure out how to fix it but I finally just gave up and am back to using the old green screen. At least there I can spend my time doing billable work. My own reaction about java is this: IBM has been hot on Java for 8 years now. If IBM's products are an example of the best that Java can be, then Java is never going to succeed. --------------------------------------------------------- Booth Martin http://www.MartinVT.com Booth@xxxxxxxxxxxx --------------------------------------------------------- -------Original Message------- From: RPG programming on the AS400 / iSeries Date: Monday, August 18, 2003 1:16:42 PM To: RPG programming on the AS400 / iSeries Subject: Re: replacing characters using %subst If thou has a problem with the infocenter, then perhaps using code/400 and the Help, ILE RPG Help, Built in Functions appeals more? The Infocenter is as elusive as the Scarlet Pimpernell. Bookmarks move and indexes get deeper and deeper. I did spend a lot of time looking, and I did find the pages but I did not find the proper place evidently. btw, thanks to everyone for the help. I had totally missed the first part where I should substring the left side of the equation. --------------------------------------------------------- Booth Martin http://www.MartinVT.com Booth@xxxxxxxxxxxx ---------------------------------------------------------
