I'm writing this from memory but should be pretty close. <psuedo-code> offset = ( %len( field ) - %len( %trim( field ) ) ) / 2 ; field = %trim( field ); for i=1 to offset ; %replace( ' ' : field : 1 : 0 ); endfor ; </psuedo-code> Your mileage may vary depending on whether or not field is varying. The above is written where field is NOT varying.
