I don't know if this will help, but maybe you could not define the field as
a date field and define it as a character field with an edit word such as
(' / / '). Then initialize it to blanks in your program then move in
the date field when you're ready.

Subject: a smart way to display null date fields on screen
Hi all
This may be an easy question ...
I have a field on a display file that refers to db field of type date, when
showing the screen for the first time the field will show 01/01/0001...I
want to display *blanks... hope that there is a keyword on dsp
file to do so....
Thanks in adavnce
Heba
