As long as it will never go over 9999999, why not make the new master file
key field 7/0 instead of 8/0?

You must have an awful lot of disk space to hold that many programs! :)

I AM DOING A CONVERSION A LEGACY SYTEM WITH A TON OF FILES WITH A KEY OF 7/0
THE NEW MASTERFILE THE KEY IS 8/0.

IS THERE A WAY TO BUILD A LOGICAL USING THE LAST SEVEN POSITIONS OF THE 8/0
FIELD.IF NOT I HAVE TO GO INTO A BILLION PRGRAMS AND MOVE THE 7/0 FIELD TO
AN 8/0 FIELD ANN THEN CHAIN.

A NOTE THE 8/0 FIELD WILL NOT OVER 9,999,999 IN THE NEXT 60 YEARS, THE
LARGEST VALE IN THE 8/0 FIELD IS 14,000 AND THIS IS FROM 12 YEARS OF
PROCESSING.

ANY RESOPNSE IS WELCOME. EVEN A GOOD JOKE IS APPRECIATED.
