Use the Hex equivalent and the SCAN opcode.
X'xy'    SCAN   XMLDATA    POS

Not sure what the hex code is for those characters, sorry.

Is there a way to search for "½" and "¼" characters in a string using RPG or

CL?
I need to convert these special characters so that the XML parser can 
understand.

How can I create a search string in RPG or CL to contain "½" OR "¼" 
characters?
