Ken,
Interesting, I posed a similiar inquiry the other day under a posting "data 
area question - performance".
I was interested to know why we are now getting data area locks in other jobs 
where previously we did not.

Anyone experiencing a problem locking a data area in RPG using V5R2

I have a sequential counter maintained in a data area that seems to
resulting in duplicate values in V5R2. I have been able to rely on the
*LOCK IN and OUT in the past but wonder if V5R2 is possibly allowing too
jobs to obtain the data area value concurrently.
