Dan,

lets say you want to scan for all of the instances of the UPDATE op code,
and only show them on the screen

from the top of the source,

 Columns . . . :    6 116
 SEU==> f update a
        *************** Begi.....
X9999

which gives you all of your updates, but it might also include a lot of
comments, 60 instances of a variable called '$UPDATED', 5 exsrs to
$UpdateMstFile, the begsr line for that subroutine.. you get the idea.

instead of paging down and 'X'ing out the lines you don't want, just type
in

 SEU ==> h $update
and
 SEU ==> h '*'

and all that's left is the update op codes:

        *************** Beginning of data **********
- - - - ---------- 1212 data records excluded ------
1432.00 C                   update    SLSADJR1
- - - - ----------- 209 data records excluded ------
1648.00 C                   update    SLSTRNR

1656.00 C                   update    SLSTRNXR

1803.00 C                   update    SLSCSV2R

        ****************** End of data ********************
