IBM, When will they fix the DSPPGM to display the source file name, if you use the IFS to store your source? And, when they do, will it also display the source file name that is available with WRKLNK? Hmm, mimicking the source physical file by adding a change date, (or a timestamp) for each line might be a bit trickier. I wonder if, with source physical files, if that's: A - A property of the editor used, or, B - A property of the source physical file itself, sort of like a trigger on a data physical file. Then, at that point, it might become a property of the editor writers, be it IBM or otherwise. Then, the only point of cooperation between the editor writers, and the compilers is getting it to appear right on the "Change Date" column on the compile listing. But that might not pass audit if someone used a third party editor to sneak in a source change. Hey Cozzi, you know of a third party editor. Does that have to maintain the change date itself? Only if you want to lose your source change dates - both in the source, and in the compiled object. Mark Waterbury pointed out that since the IFS doesn't support last changed dates, that they just ignore that information when compiling from the IFS. The dumbing down proceeds.
