re:having problem in staring JVM from RPG in batch jobs

To call java methods from rpg, i am adding the classpath environment varibale 
in RPG and letting it to initiate the JVM. it all works fine in interactive 
mode, but when I submit the job, it doesn't pick up the classpath.
Only way I was able to get it worked is to add same classpath to the job 
submitting the RPG, and select "pass environment variables = *YES" in SBMJOB 
command.
 
Does anyone know, why same RPG fails to set classpath in batch mode when 
starting JVM?, and is there any other solutuion to this?
