Yes, an array would work.  There are lots of ways to do it...
An array would be one way, another way that might be nicer would be a
multiple-occurance data structure ("MODS").  Or, maybe a temporary "work
file" in the QTEMP library would be better... depending on how big the
subfile is intending to be.  The nice thing about a file is you can use a
key to sort the data automagically.

But, yes, you have the right idea.

Oh, another possibility that jumps to mind (as if you needed more ideas,
right?) would be to simply move the records up, one-by-one in the subfile
using a loop...

This is what makes programming fun... there's so many things to play with.
It's like being a child in a toy shop!
