Larry,

Laser printers seem to recognize the overprinting technique too, and
appropriately "bold" the text.  I was surprised that this was so, but
pleased that such an old technique is still viable.

You would have to print the line or field twice, for instance, print the
line with no spacing, then print the line again with spacing lines after
printing.  This only works with impact printers, however, not laser
printers.
