I think what was meant to be said is that in V5R2 they enhanced %INT and
%DEC to convert character text containing numeric data to numeric.  But it
doesn't do as good a job as the old atoi() and atoll() functions in C,
because if edit symbols are in the numeric value, the %DEC blows. :(  I
would continue to use atoll() if you have it prototyped.  If decimal data is
needed you either need the C2N() procedure that's been floating around, or
the RPG ToolKit with the CharToNum() proc.

<I've used %int back to V4R5.

According to my chart, it was introduced in V3R7.
