%Date & *DATE

I have the following line in a program.

     C                   Eval      dJobDate = %Date(*Date) - %Days(1)

Am I correct in the *DATE parameter on the %DATE BIF causes the job date to
be used instead of the system date ?

Should I go back to the TIME opcode to consistently get the current system
date ?
