Short answer: yes. Longer answer: by specifying BASED, you are telling the compiler not to alllocate any memory for the data structure, that you will do so at some later date. The INZ keyword, on the other hand, tells it to initialize part of the data structure at startup time. However, since no memory has been allocated for the data structure, this initialization cannot occur. Joe
