The compiler isn't a math textbook. If it were (A and B) or A and B or (C and D) then the parenthesis would come into play. If it is just straight *and statements, as soon as one is false there would be no need to check what is in parenthesis. Parenthesis on the other hand, greatly enhance the readability of a program and enhance a programmer's understanding of what is happening. However, that doesn't mean the compiler needs them. Tracy L.
