The Jar file is specified in the CLASSPATH parameter - not specifying that was one of my earlier mistakes. The full command at job startup reads:

ADDENVVAR ENVVAR(CLASSPATH) +
VALUE('/commercial/genesys/lib/genesys.jar'+
) REPLACE(*YES)
MONMSG MSGID(CPF0000)

i'm still getting the No Class Def Found Error though...??
