The F1 help on the AS/400 FTP command is very useful. The yellow text is
cursor-sensitive and opens another level of help.

I suspect you'd be interested in the PUT command that allows you to "PUT
FileA File1.txt". That command would sent FileA to the server with a file
name of File1.txt

Zipping the file is another matter and may not buy you much anyway. Text
files tend to be smaller and travel pretty fast.

Subject: FTP an AS400 file .TXT

I would like to know if someone could tell me how to change an AS400 file to
have a .TXT extension to send via FTP. After having the .TXT, I need to zip
the file and then send it.

Please let me know if anyone could help.

Thanks,
Nelson Ventura
