I tried the former and couldn't find the test link.
I tried the latter and it looks good.  It doesn't cache that information
does it?  It checks it right there and then?
Probably a better one to use is:

http://www.securityspace.com/sprobe/probe.html

It definitely checks at the time and will give up more information than netcraft.
