Buck, You could also use %scan to locate the punctuation characters and %subst to shift the positions after the punctuation left 1 position. This would ensure that whatever follows the punctuation remains exactly as it was and doesn't loop through the field a position at a time multiple times for each punctuation character (1 %scan, 1 %replace).
