does the %Char() bif trim the leading zero? that was the original
problem, he didn't want the leading zero.

I'm nowhere I can test right now.

simply changing your edit code to 'z' and adding a trim would also work:

Eval    FileName = 'PRMMTD' + %trim(%EditC((*Year-1):'Z'))
