What was the reason code on the "not valid for operation" message?  That
might give you a clue.

My first thought would be an authority issue.  Perhaps the user profile does
not have data update rights to the file or the file (it appears to be a
logical) is a read only file.  If you are in debug mode with UPDPROD set to
*NO and the file is in a *PROD library, that will also cause the error.

Its not working.  I am getting SQL error code 7008. We don't journal any
files, and this is the only place in the program I use this file.
