I am not interested in executing my applications on a windows platform at all. The iSeries is the most stable and secure platform I have dealt with. I would not replace RPG programs with any other language. I would use other languages to supplement my RPG programs. There are some areas where other languages are more efficient than RPG. One example is connecting to a web server using SSL. Java is more efficient at this type of connection than RPG. For this specific example, I use an RPG program as the driver for the Java program. The bottom line -- I would have no interest in moving from the iSeries to another platform. I would have no interest in replacing my RPG programs with another language. And if so, which relational database would be preferred. If you are interested, please reply to this email noting your preferences. Thank you.
