You have to build a variable length string...

We build a single variable length string. Trim all the values and use
%editc or %editw to handle numerics. Put a Tab between each field and run
it through our p$CV_Output procedure.

It's published at...

http://www.cm-inc.com/Apps/iSeries/Utilities/DspSrcPFM.asp?Library=BOGP&File=CMGPSRC&Member=CV1_PROCS

Then we write the results to a internally described file and use CPYTOPCD,
CPYTOIMPF or CPYTOSTMF to convert the data to ASCII

I finally figured out how to do both, however, that extra spaces are not
eliminated. Is there a way to get it to look like a true CSV format?
