Difference B/W Return and seton LR from a programme to a parent programme

Hi All,

I understand that while we return from a child programme to a parent
programme, variables state(i.e. value), file pointers etc. are preserved for
subsequent call in a job. While seton LR initializes everything.

Now it is not working for our application. Is there something related to OS
upgrade because we had upgrade from V4R5 to V5R1 in the very recent past ?
