I'm coming to this discussion late, so I apologize if I'm repeating anything. A few years ago, we tested the use of FEOD against using logical files. Apparently, record blocking is not used when writing records to a logical file. Performance was something like ten times better writing to the logical file instead of using FEOD and writing to the physical file. Donald R.
