I have already found the answer.  I did not have the DATFMT defined in my
H-Spec so I had to use the *ISO format of 'yyyy-mm-dd' instead of the *USA
format etc.

I am getting a "Thje Date Literal is not valid"  error message whenever I
compile my RPG program.   Below is how I have defined the date:

I want to initialize a the date field to that value.
I have consulted manuals and they all indicate this is the way to define and
initialize a date field.

Any help is greatly appreciated.
