>I'm afraid of overtaxing the system resources. Journaling has never been a load on any AS/400 system. It was noticeable on S/38 boxes, but only just barely. Any recent iSeries machine has horsepower to spare for journaling. On the other hand, if your application isn't engineered for commitment control, there's little benefit to be had to just turn journaling on and build up journal receivers. We (iSeries folks) are about the only group of programmers who think it normal to run without commitment control. Everybody else takes it for granted. Our new Java programmer had no idea that it could be turned off! --buck
