Yep - everybosy has to have these stories. Heres mine.
Years ago, working on an IBM mainframe via TSO, the system was just 
horrendously slow, unless you were in edit mode.
I was creating/writing a new COBOL program when someone (a project leader no 
less) noticed that I seemed to be the only one working, so I 
absentl-mindedly/facetiously stated
Yeh, I used the GOFAST command, (no such thing)
Later on that day, the same person approached me and wanted to know where he 
could find the documentation on the GOFAST command.

Also years ago, when switching out a twinax CRT, after disconnecting the
cable, I immediately clamped my hand over the end.  I told the lady that
she needed to keep it clamped, or else hold it high in the air, so the
data wouldn't run out on the floor.  She dutifully held it overhead
while I placed the new CRT in position.  I took my time.  <g>

I suppose hundreds of people have done what I did.  Just adds a bit of
levity to the day.
