I just completed my first RPG free format program. I like it. It was a fair-sized program I had converted to RPGIV syntax some time ago. I used CODE400 to convert the C specs to free format. It looks weird at first, but you start to get used to it. Some things don't get converted, like the LOOKUP op code stayed fixed format instead of becoming a %LOOKUP BIF. But those were few and far between. I started adjusting the 'style' that CODE400 used but then realized there was no way I was going to do that on every program as I changed it. <g> The only problem I had was, when converting the few fixed-format statements left or changing SELECT/WHEN groups to IF/ELSEIF, was putting the semicolon at the end of each line. But the compiler let me know about that right off. <g> 560 calc specs in the program and: 1) The only indicator used in the program is print file overflow 2) The only fixed format C spec is a "CLR EXSR EOJRtn" I highly recommend it. -- Jeff Crosby Dilgard Frozen Foods, Inc.
