> RPG is the most popular language for OS/400, why are the header members and documentation written *only* for C programmers?! Most of the APIs we've bee discussing in this thread _are_ for C programmers which is why they are documented the way they are. There is also the thought among some managers in Rochester that nobody writes this kind of code in RPG. A truly stupid belief, but .... Then there's the fact that there aren't any RPG programmers in the Rochester Lab (not to speak of anyway) - Mel Rothman, the father of CGIDEV2 and author of many of the PartnerWorld code snippets, just retired. He was one of the last. The result is that for IBM to produce examples in RPG requires the expenditure of physical $ for contract skills (and Yes I among others have volunteered to do this kind of stuff on the cheap). This is why the RPG Redbook "Who Knew ....." had a number of examples of sockets, IFS, etc. We wanted to do a lot more but ran out of time. We were going to do "Son of Redbook" but the funding has not been forthcoming. </Soapbox> Here's a question to ask yourselves. How many of you who downloaded the Redbook used the "Reader Reply" and told IBM - "We need more of this" ?? How many of you on finding an example in a manual that was only written for C and Java users have sent in a reader comment complaining?? Every time I bring up these subjects with IBM managers I'm told they can't get the money because people aren't asking for these kinds of examples. Forget that it should be self-evident and instead of writing yet another reply to this thread ...... WRITE TO IBM !! and when you've done that WRITE TO IBM AGAIN!! and AGAIN and ...... </Soapbox> Jon Paris Partner400
