Thanks Mark, That makes sense. The 'other' execution is really irrelevant to the conditions but only relevant to the execution (or not) of any of the 'when' statements... I get it! You are correct in your assumption, if the when's conditions are not met, the other clause will perform it's functions. -----Original Message----- From: rpg400-l-admin@midrange.com [mailto:rpg400-l-admin@midrange.com]On Behalf Of Feador, Jerry Sent: Tuesday, May 28, 2002 5:15 PM To: 'rpg400-l@midrange.com' Subject: Other What? Must be Monday (okay, Tuesday) no one's awake, or maybe just too busy getting the week started...?... Question... On a mixed SELECT-WHEN group, what does the OTHER clause consider? i.e. SELECT WHEN Code = 'A' WHEN Code = 'B' WHEN Type = '1' WHEN Type = '2' OTHER (does the other here select any condition that is not Code = 'A' or 'B' and not Type '1' or '2' or...?) ENDSL next i.e. SELECT WHEN Code = 'A' And Type = '1' WHEN Code = 'B' Or Type = '2' OTHER (don't have a clue as to what the other here will select...?) ENDSL Can't seem to find any clear definition of the OTHER rules in the manuals.
