Dan,

I had to change your subject line.  And we'll probably get chided that
this needs to be moved to midrange-l or the nontech list (of which I do
not subscribe).

Initially I was going to respond that people feel that they can hire
network or PC people pretrained and ready to roll.  And that most of those
will have a computer at home and dedicate their lives to hacking on their
personal time to keep up.
But then I think of all the PC and network people that we've sent to
training; be it for Cisco, W2k, and a host of other stuff.  I bet there
are companies in those markets that lag behind also.

Still thinking on my last post...

Doesn't it seem odd that companies who can get past the initial high cost
of
the AS/400 platform because they can see the long-term total cost of
ownership (TCO) find it difficult to see the benefit of keeping their IT
staff up-to-date in the technology?
