Ron,

I just did something similar last week. I described the files internally
similar to this

*  Target File:
     FNewfile   O    F  480        DISK

      *  Source File 1:
     Faccta     IP   F  235        DISK

      *  Source File 2:
     Facctb     IF   F  236        DISK

     Iaccta     NS
     I                                  1  235  ARcd

     Iacctb     NS
     I                                  1  236  BRcd

Subject: Moving an entire record to another file

Hi All,

Sorry about the recall.

I need some help within one of my programs. I need to write an entire
record from one file to another. The layouts of the files are indentical
except that the field names are prefixed differently. All that I want to do
is to move the record from CADJ(format name) to CADH(format name) and write
it out.

I tried to externally describe the files in data sturctures, but still get
error messages. I am not sure what is is that I have wrong in the D specs.
code follows.

DFMTJ           E DS
D CADJ
DFMTH           E DS
D CADH

Error Messages follow;
*RNF0516 30      2 Name is not allowed since it has already been defined;

                   specification is ignored.

*RNF3523 40 2 The external description of the externally-described data

                   structure was not found.

TIA
Ron
