Works well, but a compile listing is soooo much longer that just the source
that I like to analyze.

Have you tried using the indented listing that is included free with
your RPG compiler?

CRTBNDRPG  PGM(mypgm)  INDENT('|') OPTIONS(*NOGEN)

Causes the compiler to avoid compiling and just produces an indented
compiler listing.
